The Human_G laboratory, referred to as the Molecular Anthropology Group at Hacettepe University, is the only ancient DNA laboratory in Turkey that was constructed in 2019 to meet world standards for ancient DNA research with positive pressure. It conducts pioneering studies using genomic analysis to better understand the past by isolating ancient DNA preserved in human, animal, and sedimentary remains from Turkey and other regions of the world. Within this framework, the laboratory conducts research on various topics such as the transition to settled life, domestication of plants and animals, urbanization, mobility, cultural diffusion, family and kinship relationships, microbes, genetic and acquired diseases, and human-animal interactions. The team at the Human_G laboratory collaborates with national and international teams to carry out high-quality research.
